David Sheldrick Orphans
Bedtime at the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage, Nairobi. Each calf is assigned a carer that will eat and sleep in the same room with the elephant until he or she is ready to leave. Most of the elephants are orphaned through poaching & some were abandoned by their herds due to injury which meant they were unable to keep up. Elephants are let free into the wilderness every morning for the day and come home at night but with no obligation to so.
